The film takes place in a remote cabin in the woods, where five friends - Jules (Anna Hutchison), Dana (Kristen Connolly), Marty (Chris Hemsworth), Wendy (Fran Kranz), and Holden (Jesse Williams) - spend their weekend. Unbeknownst to them, their actions are being monitored and manipulated by a mysterious organization known as "The Facility" from a control room beneath the cabin.
