The movie follows the story of Nick (Ben Stiller), the now-married and settled-down museum night guard, who is struggling to connect with his teenage son, Matthew (Jaxon Bond). Meanwhile, a new villain emerges in the form of Kahmunrah (Jonah Hill), the power-hungry and cunning Egyptian pharaoh from the first film. Kahmunrah returns with a new plan to obtain the magical tablet that brings museum exhibits to life, and this time, he's not alone. He teams up with his clever and resourceful sister, Tilly (Riley Keough), to take over the world.
