The film centers around Commander John "Jack" Harris (Gerard Butler), a U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 operator who leads a mission to rescue Captain Franklin (James Nelson), the commander of the USS Indianapolis (SSN-697), an American attack submarine that has been captured by a Russian Navy submarine, the Priz. The rescue mission becomes complicated when Harris and his team discover that the Russian submarine is operating under rogue orders, threatening a nuclear war between the United States and Russia.
