The film revolves around Helen (played by Maren Ade), a 18-year-old girl who returns to her hometown after being kicked out of her boarding school in Switzerland. She moves in with her mother, who runs a wellness center, and begins to work as a masseuse. As Helen navigates her new life, she encounters a series of eccentric characters, including her mother, her grandmother, and a young doctor named Christoph.
