The film is set in 73 BCE, where Spartacus, a Thracian gladiator, is forced to fight in the arena. He leads a rebellion against his Roman captors, and soon, his fellow gladiators join him. The group of rebels grows in numbers, and they become a formidable force, taking on the Roman army.
