The film begins with Thor, the mighty Avenger, facing off against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on the planet Sakaar. This intergalactic world is ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), a powerful and eccentric being. Thor soon learns that his home, Asgard, is under threat from the impending Ragnarok, a catastrophic event that will destroy his realm.
