The original "Famiresu Choukyou" (Punishment of the Famicom) was created by the doujin circle, Famiresu Choukyou, and released in 2002. The game was a humorous, self-aware deconstruction of the Famicom (the Japanese version of the NES) and its games. The success of the first game led to the creation of a sequel, "Ryoujoku Famiresu Choukyou Menu 2," which built upon the foundations laid by its predecessor.
